The War That Saved My Life
by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley
View in Library Catalog
book cover

In The War That Saved My Life, Ada is my favorite character because she is brave and helpful towards everyone. My least favorite is Mam (Ada's Mom) because she is hurtful towards everyone in the book. But Mam's main target is Ada because she has a clubfoot that Mam is so embarrassed about. Mam makes Ada do all the work for her and her brother, Jamie and if she doesn't she gets slapped. I rate this book a 5 star rating because the book title is so creative and it explores the wonders of Hitlers war.

Mallory And The Trouble With Twins: A Graphic Novel (the Baby-sitters Club #17)
by Ann M. Martin

Whenever the twins would cause trouble, I believe they shouldn't take their emotions out on the baby sitter. Marilyn and Carolyn shouldn't have swapped when Marilyn needed to go to piano lessons, but let Carolyn go. But, Mrs. Arnold told Claudia to do a better job just because they look alike. If I were Claudia I would feel frustrated because it wasn't Claudia's fault that the twins switched their identities. Near the end, Mallory got along together with the twins because Mallory has twin brothers, but they all dress differently.

This is book is about a middle school boy loses his memory after falling off a roof. As he recovers, he realized his past is bad and decided to make a change. I like it a lot because it’s about theme of identity, redemption and second chance in a heartfelt and humorous way.

The ending was good and I loved how all the characters changed by the end of the book like and how it foreshadows that Jared and Justyce are going to become friends bonding over Manny’s death.

Holes

Holes is one of my favorite books because it is like a scrambled puzzle. My favorite character in Holes is Zero (Hector) because he is kindhearted and helpful towards Stanley Yelnats. Even if the other boys in the detention camp of Camp Green Lake are disrespectful towards Zero. He will stand up to protect Stanley and himself. I rate this book a 5 star rating because it has two of my favorite topics kindness and survival.

It was so inspiring how they all find each other through there program and I think it’s so nice they can be friends especially after their argument.
